Blossoming

Raychel L.O.V.E.S. Jade. She hugs on her like this all the time. Jade's like, "I can't breathe!"
Love this smile!
More love.
I think this hat looks so cute on Anna!
Leah, as you can see, is just dreading her ballet class.
"Mom, make sure to get a picture of my whole body!"

I just had to get a cute-cheek-kissing picture!
Personalities are so interesting. Lately, I have noticed some “blossoming” differences in the girl’s personalities. The interesting thing is they are all close in age, so I haven’t had the time to “loosen up” or change my parenting. Yet, they are all so different! Their interests, fears, and ideas differ greatly. For example, no one loves the dog like Roo. Every morning, Jade is the first one to get a hug and kiss from my girl. Every night before bed, Jade gets a big kiss on the nose (I really try not to gag…especially after I saw Jade eat poop earlier that afternoon. Dogs have really clean mouths, right?). Anna and Leah are pretty much indifferent to Jade...only acknowledging her when she passes an offensive odor in their direction.

This year has been so great for Anna and Leah. I separated them for school, and I really think they’ve grown into and solidified their different interests. I have had the girls in an acrobatics class for a while now. Leah came up to me last week and told me she “needed to be a ballerina”. Her life’s calling, apparently. As you can see in the pictures above, she was ecstatic to be a ballerina…pretty, lovely, graceful and delicate. Raychel and Anna could care less about ballet. A few weeks ago, Anna and Leah had a safety unit at school. The class welcomed a local firefighter to the class, and he told them all about safety basics. Leah walked in the door all abuzz. She went into fine detail about how she would be rescued from a fire. Anna came home in tears (literally). The first words out of her mouth, “MOM! Do we have dem things?!” What things? “Dem things that beep if there’s a FIRE!” I had to walk her to each room and assure her we had “dem things” and they were all in working condition. Then the other night I was cutting the missionaries’ hair, and Leah comes dancing into the kitchen, “Mom, do I look beautiful for the mission-hair-ies?” Always a princess.

As I was writing this, I remembered a blog entry I wrote a while back about their differing personalities. That was almost 3 years ago, and I’d say they’ve stayed pretty consistent in their development. (you can click here to read that entry if you'd like!) I think we all come to Earth pre-wired with our individuality.

Ok, so that explains the comments from Leah...One day she is telling me about gymnastics and the next week it was ballet. And the Fire Fighter thing...Lexie was the same as Leah, but Karissa was the one in tears after hearing Lexie tell all about it.

You have such special girls!

So true! It's so fun to see how different kids can be. Love all the dancing pictures. I think Leah and Lauren would be two peas in a pod.
