Mmm...on this crisp March evening, my home is filled with the sweet aroma of sulfur and vinegar. Yes, a big fart if you will. This was the Easter egg dying debut for the Roylances.
*You know, before I go any further, I must divulge a little secret...I know, I can't help myself. I'm reveling all my secrets these days. When I do my "blog stalking", I can't help but feel just a little bit bad about myself. Let me explain. So many mothers out there do such cute things for their children, so they can remember these celebrations. I try to make special occasions memorable, but I just don't go "all out". So, any of you crafty moms reading this...don't judge me. :-) Or, you can look at my blog and feel much better about yourself...hahaha! I guess it's true what they say...you can take the girl outta Oklahoma, but you can't take the Oklahoma outta the girl! I'm WT at heart. Or you could say, I just opt for "simplicity" (wink wink). I'll fill you in on all the corners I cut (as if you won't be able to notice yourself).*
Leah's turn. Love the chipped fluorescent green polish. Green is her favorite!
Even with all my "corner-cutting", I think the girls had a great time. Hopefully they will have some good memories of holidays even without all the cute stuff! I'm kidding, of course. I like to give myself a hard time as much as the next person! Haha! :-)

It really isn't about the way you do it or the cute stuff you have; it's about being together doing something!! You are an awesome mom just the way you are.
P.S. Don't hate the crafty ones though! HA HA!
what an Eggxellent Adventure. LOL
Well dear, it looks like a great Easter tradition to me. I think the girls had a great time without the fake grass, curly ribbon on their baskets and the homemade treat!!! You are doing an awesome job!! Thanks for taking such good care of my granddaughters. And yes I remember Raychel HAVING to have that orange basketball basket and you trying to talk her out of it and me saying oh let her have it :)
Well at least you *do* Easter baskets and let your kids dye eggs. I think that we've dyed eggs 4 times since we had kids. My oldest turns 11 in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking that we'll do it this year. I bought the dye kit and we're out on 3 week break. I'm guessing that we did an actual Easter egg hunt at least once... (We have taken them to an Easter egg hunt at the senior home my g'ma used to live at a couple of times.) My oldest asked if they could do egg hunts this year using plastic eggs that they could take turns hiding for each other. Fantastic idea! As for Easter baskets: We usually get a couple of bags of candy to put out and eat. I gave up on the baskets after the first couple years when the g'parents kept outshining us with the baskets they gave the kids, plus my kids don't need 15,000 calories worth of candy.
I'm not from OK, but I live in a mobile home, so I guess that I can justify my WT-iness, too.
We always do an FHE lesson or two about Easter, but I'm not into the whole bunny/eggs thing much.
Cute pictures of your adorable kids!
Looks like everyone had a great time. You know they totally don't care that it wasn't all "Crafty." I am all about the simple activities too. WHy make it harder than it needs to be? Great job!
That sounds like Easter at our house! OK WT-ness must run in the family :)
thanks Ali for your comment. you inspire me girl. The whole reason I decided to take easter to another level and teach the true meaning of easter was from yuor wonderful example. I saw that one post of you and your family sitting aorund the table enjoying some of the foods from the passover and Jesus' time. I loved that post. made me realize I need to be teaching more to my kids about the gospel and doing great things such as you. youre great. thanks for inspiring me. we did the passover dinner last ngiht and really had a good time.
