I saw this question posted on another blog, and I loved it so much, I wanted to post it on my blog.
Question:
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Did you achieve it?
What is your dream now?
To answer the questions for myself...I always wanted to be a mom. That was the ultimate on my list. For a long time I wanted to be an anesthesiologist. That dream was completely shattered when I took a chemistry class and realized I don't have a brain that is cut out for learning science at a normal pace. Plus, as life went on, I discovered that the sight of blood makes me really nauseous.
Obviously, I have three little girls to show for my motherhood dreams. I guess I have my own little medical practice here at home. Providing lots of kisses on owies, and putting band-aids on just because someone thinks they need a band-aid. Our favorite: Nexcare Princess band-aids. They are made from that tegaderm material, so they stay on so good and don't leave that black sticky residue.
My dream now is to keep doing what I'm doing. I love doing hair and making people feel good. I love being a mom. So far every stage has had it's own special challenges and rewards. I will totally miss (about the phase I'm in now) squeezing squishy, chubby bellies and kissing soft, plump cheeks! I just don't think a 14 year old would take it well if I grabbed her cheeks in wal-mart and started planting kisses all over her face (I am so prone to doing that especially when we are waiting to check out)!
I hope I'm instilling the knowledge in my girls that they are loved more than I could ever express. They are unique individuals with talents and traits that are uniquely theirs.
Ok...now YOU all answer these questions too!

You are such a good mom, and your girls are so cute.
When I was younger, I wanted to do EVERYRTHING. I wanted to own a hotel, be a waitress, be a vet, own a restaurant, be a nurse, be a doctor, be a teacher, be the boss of everyone, work at a fast food place drive through window.
Then it was time to "grow up". I decided I wanted to be a lawyer. I hated it. Then I wanted to do journalism. I liked that, but not enough to do it everyday. Then it was communication. I hated that too.
NOW I'm going back to school to be a teacher. I guess that part of my "wants" when I was younger are coming true.
I do like where I'm at now...I just want to be more successful, not feel as "disposable". We'll see how it goes :)
The girls BETTER love me kissing their cheeks when they're 14....they can't escape their May! :)
I am so glad you are living your childhood dreams. That reminds me of the book you gave me by Randy Pausch (I heard he passed away a few weeks ago). He talks a lot about that. It is a really good book, by the way. Thanks!
Your girls are so adorable. I love seeing the older pictures. They are lucky to have such a great mom.
Your girls are darling! Isn't it funny how life doesn't always turn out like you've planned but in someways its so much better than you could have dreamed!
