I feel like there are so many "bits and pieces" that I have been neglecting writing about. Time to get caught up. Back in August, we lost our faithful companion Jade. Jade had been a part of our family for 13 years. She had been with me through every pregnancy, every sickness, every happy moment. Saying goodbye to her was as hard as we knew it would be. It was Sunday and everyone was over for dinner. I was in the kitchen making donuts for dessert. She came to the corner of the kitchen and started panting heavily. I tried to coax her to lay down and relax while I pet her. I could tell she was distressed. Something just told me "this is it." I called James in. We called everyone in. We sat around her saying our goodbyes and talking about what a good, loyal dog she had been. This all started at 7:30. By 9:30 that night, she was gone. The next morning we gave her a proper burial and "funeral service". I know we'll see her again one day.
James and I knew we couldn't go long without a puppy around the house. Here comes Jewel. She's wild and crazy and wonderful. When I took her for her first puppy shots, we found out she had a severe heart murmur (unbeknownst to the breeders). We took her to get a second opinion and our fears were confirmed that Jewel may have, at best, two years. We decided we were going to love her and give her the best life anyway. She's been a fun addition.

I guess this is comfortable?
