Labor Day

My James isn't much of a "fun" initiator.  He'll go along with anything I say we're doing...most of the time without an argument.  This time, however, he planned ALL the fun himself.  He did a pretty good job if I say so myself.  James' birthday happened to fall on Labor Day weekend, so it was perfect.  We had just opened some presents in the hotel room.  I think these girls are kind of fond of their dad.
Ready to explore.  We did SO MUCH WALKING this day.  I'm proud to say my girls did not even complain.  They're tough, and I like that.
My mom always cracks me up!  We got on BART and had to stand.  She was holding on for dear life with two handles.  She's like, "I should give one of these handles to someone else, but I'm not gonna."  HAHAHA!  Gotta look out for #1.

I love these girls!  While we waited for the Trolley car, I told them I'd give them $5 if they danced with the street performer.  Anna NEVER lets a money making opportunity slip from her fingertips.  She happily obliged.  Leah went along with it simply because she and Anna are a team.
When we got on our car, Anna held out her hand and goes, "Where's my bucks?"
 I love nice, happy people!
This picture makes me happy because Anna was hugging me and tickling my back as we rode along Powell Street.
 So much to see.
Boarding the ferry boat to check out Alcatraz.
 Classic Roo face
Sunshine on my cheeks and a salt water breeze blowing through my hair.

I thought these were the coolest looking plant/flowers!
Fun Fact:  James' Grandfather was a guard at Alcatraz during the 1940's!

 Thrown in the hole!

One thing we weren't planning on was sunshine.  Usually SF is overcast and kind of chilly.  The day we were there, it was hot and sunny.  I was prepared with sweaters and layers, but not sunblock.  James decided to use his sweatshirt as a protective barrier against the sun.  Raychel saw this was was absolutely mortified.  And I quote, "OH. MY. GOSH. LOOK. AT. DAD."  We've arrived!  We're embarrassing parents now.  I told James this information, and he was almost hurt that she found him humiliating.  However, I could see the sneaky, sly wheels turning in his head about how he can have some fun with this new information.
"Seriously.  It looks like he is wearing a wig."

After Alcatraz, we rushed to an Oakland A's game.  Professional games are so much fun!  I love the energy of the crowd.  The girls had a great time.  Love my little Oakland fans!  Anna and Leah have been all about "caps" lately.  I promised them and A's cap.  Of course, the merchandise at the game was ridiculously expensive.  I just could not bring myself to pay those kind of prices.  The next day, we bought some caps from the Oakland Walmart.  Half price and happy faces.

 Best. Picture. Ever.
This was NOT on James' itinerary.  This was one of the "go along without an argument" activities.  Jelly Belly Factory.
