Our local library hosts a program called, "Love on a Leash". Various volunteers give their time by bringing in their pets for the children. The goal is to have the children read books to the animals. Studies have shown that a child's reading will improve when they can read to animals. Animals are kind, loving ,they don't care about words that are not pronounced correctly, they won't interrupt. My Raychel is quite the animal lover. She's been wanting to check this activity out for a while now. I will say it was totally worth the time. This was right up Raychel's ally.
Meeting the bunny.
This was Leah's animal of choice.
Raychel read to this dog, Sara the whole time. Sara laid exactly like this.

I love how Sara is so patiently listening.

Anna liked Neva.
I loved watching the girls with the dogs (and bunny). Today in Sunday School we were reading in 2 Peter about being partakers of the divine nature. I loved this quote from President Ezra Taft Benson (talking about brotherly kindness), "One who is sympathetic and gentle with others. He is considerate of others' feelings and courteous in his behavior. He has a helpful nature. Kindness pardons others' weaknesses and faults. Kindness is extended to all-to the aged and the young, to animals, to those low of stations well as the high." I love how animals were included in this quote. I'm so happy to see the girls embody this trait of brotherly kindness with all living creatures. And how nice is it to be loved by a n animal...especially a good ol' dog!

What a good mom you are taking the girls to Love on a Leash. Kathy, Neva's mom was happy the girls were there. So glad they had a fun time:)
Mom
What a great idea! I wish they had something like that here. The boys would totally love it.
Thank you for this post. I really need to show more love to my leashed friend, and try not to be annoyed with him all the time. ;o)
That looks like such a cute program at your library. Your girls always look so cute in their matching shirts and hair accessories. Wouldn't expect anything less from Roylance girls......
