I had to give this entry that title. It is a phrase coined by non other than my dear husband. He is such a brat sometimes...a funny brat. He asked me how my day was at "Crapple Hill", and I could not stop laughing about that name. We live about an hour away from "Apple Hill". It's a town filled with various apple farms. You can buy anything from apples and pumpkins to dog tags and wolf sweatshirts. It's a quaint little place to visit. The original plan was to bring...excuse me drag...my dad and James along. However, at the last minute, my dad couldn't go; therefore, letting a jubilant James off the hook. Let's face it...misery loves company. You can't make one suffer without the other! You may be asking yourself why these two men wouldn't be dying to spend a day around a half million Californians looking at crafts. People, do I really need to answer that??
Our journey begins. We stopped at this little farm and bought pumpkins.
And we picked some apples...right off the tree!

Fast forward almost TWO hours. Yes, that was one and a half hours spent in traffic getting to this next location. We literally went 2 miles in one hour. Why would we sit in a car that long to get to some place, you ask? Well, the answer is: girls. Girls that Grant met over the summer lived and worked here. Well, when you're that close to cute girls, a visit is in order. After a rather stressful venture, he found his friends, and the girls found their very own slice of heaven...the face painting tent. Pure bliss! Here we are looking for the perfect face art.

Kitty Cat Anna
I hope you can see Leah's smile! She was so surprised and excited when she saw herself for the first time.
Ladybug Leah
Raychel's turn!
Nana and May May
Raychel was equally as excited about her transformation. She was a different girl for the rest of the day. Smiling and waving to strangers. Growling at various times. It was fun to see her so carefree and silly! (Two things Raychel generally is not)

Scary tiger growl.
"Oh, Mom! This is an AWESOME place to take a picture!"
Raychel was so thirsty, and she would have nothing but Diet Coke...atta girl! Nothing quenches your thirst like those cold, tiny bubbles sliding down your throat. Ahhh...
As I was going through these pictures, I was laughing about all the unintentional "photo bombers". Like, people will just totally stand in your camera angle and stare at the camera while the picture is being taken. They're like, "What's that new finagled contraption you've got?" I wonder how many random stranger's pictures I have accidentally "bombed". Hopefully, they crop like I do!
Here we are on the train. $3.50 for a ride around a small, sewage smelling, man made lake. What a deal. See that little old man? He was the conductor. Sir, are you sure it's safe for a 113 year old to operate this sort of machinery?
So this darling damsel was the reason we sat in traffic for nearly two hours. Yes, I was creepy. Yes, I was embarrassing. Hiding around a corner taking pictures. Cue "The Lady":
I'm your biggest fan
I'll follow you until you love me
Papa-paparazzi
heehee. Poor Grant! I was just giving them a conversation piece...freaky older sister!

I wish I could go to Crapple Hill!It looks like you had a great time. Love the face paints. So fitting to their personalities. Miss those girls! (And you too, of course)
We went there 2 years ago and Derek REFUSES to ever go back! I might have to do like you did and make it a girls day:)
BTW-We rode he same train but I think the conductor was only 110 yrs old then, thankfully we made it out alive!!
You do a great job with your blogs, Ali! Thanks for sharing these great moments with those who couldn't be there. With your pictures and comments, I feel like I had all the joy without the pain of actually enduring the half million Californians, crafts and traffic!
Brian and I LOVE reading your posts, especially with the "Crapple Hill" title... I can just picture James saying that. I loved seeing the face painting and your paparazzi photos. Don't you love being the older sister? So funny....
Take care. Miss you guys!
This is Brian in TF Idaho, I'm with James!!!
