Control Freak

My darling Buddha Baby!
If you look closely at Raychel's face, you will notice a raspberry mark on her temple. Ask her what happened. "Oh, my mom just kicked me in the face with her boot." Story: Today after we got home from church, I was unloading Anna and Leah from their seats (Raychel gets out by herself). I told Raychel to go in the house and wash her hands. Well, as I was backing out of the van, I basically mule kicked the side of her face because she was standing directly behind me. I didn't turn to look before backing out because I thought she had gone in the house to wash her hands (like I had asked her to). I can't wait to hear her tell her teachers tomorrow. "Oh, my mom just kicked me in the face with her boot." Precious.

My meticulous artist, LeeLee.

A family affair.

I must admit that I feel like I do this "mom" thing ok in a lot of ways. However, I know I fail miserably in other areas. One example: I hate messes. I'm not talking messes like Barbies strewn all over the house. I'm talking paint/glue/marker/glitter/messes. Of course, like all kids, my girls love these types of art projects. I'm always like, "Here girls. Use the crayons." I try and coax them with "cool" crayons...fat ones, triangle shape ones, "twistables", princess color crayons. It's just not the same as making a huge, creativity building mess. Raychel loves painting at school. Everyday, she has some new masterpiece to bring home and hang up. When I was picking her up from school one day, I asked her what learning labs she chose. She said, "Mom, I painted, and it didn't even make a mess!" I felt so much guilt from that little statement! Yes, I would be the mom stifling my child's creativity because I hate messes. Every now and then, I break out of my clean comfort zone and make a mess. That's what our FHE activity was tonight. Of course it made a mess, and of course it was a lot of FUN!

I know what you mean, when you work so hard to keep the house clean and then to intentionally make a mess. Looks like it was kept under control though, great idea for FHE!

Funny how they are all naked! You've inspired me though. We'll have to "make a mess" soon too. My girls love the paint as well and we rarely do it.

Well,I guess May will have to plan a special activity for next time I babysit :)
And James would DIE if he thought people thought he drew the rainbow! :)

Hey, what's wrong with the rainbow? OK,I'm the one who painted the rainbow, thought it looked good too:). It was a fun activity and the girls did enjoy it. I'm proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone!!!!!
