Treasures

First time I ever held Raychie

I absolutely love this book: Mama Love By, Kathy Mallat (All of her books are exceptional!). This afternoon my little Raychel read it to me, and I couldn't help welling up as I listened to her sweet little voice read it.
My mom went to a reading conference a few years ago where this particular author was spotlighted. At the time, I had just learned I was pregnant with Raychel. My mom bought this book for me and wrote inside "No one love you like your mama. I'm excited you will get to experience that kind of love."
Little did I know the LONG road the was ahead of us. When Raychel was in the NICU, I would take this book and read it to her. For 8 weeks I could not hold her, so my only way to really feel like I was doing "something" was to talk to her or cup her in my hands like she was a burrito from Baja Fresh. I can't make it though the book without it piercing me to the core. So many memories flood my mind. So true, "no one loves you like your mama."
Here is the story:
Mama Love By Kathy Mallat
My mama loves me.
I'm the twinkle in her eye,
her heart's pitter-patter,
her star in the sky.
My mama loves me.
I'm her absolute delight.
She guides me and protects me
through each day and night.
Mama shares...
and cares...
and is quite inventive.
Mama's strong...
and brave...
and very attentive.
I love my mama.
She is everything to me,
the rays of my sunshine,
the roots of my tree.
I love my mama.
She's the twinkle in my eye,
my hearts pitter-patter...
my star in the sky.

Wow Raychel can already read! That is amazing I feel like such a slacker mom Ethan can't even recognize letters and he calls them numbers when he does see them. I better get on it I don't want my kid to be the slow one. Cute story though.

I need to get that book. I know you've told me about it before. How sweet! Aren't we lucky to be "mamas"? There's nothing better!

I really like that book. I may buy one. Does Raychel really read or just recite?
